Diocese of Owensboro Celebrates National Catholic Schools Week

Catholic schools throughout the 32 counties of the Diocese of Owensboro joined in the national celebration of Catholic Schools Week, January 29 – February 4, 2023.

This year’s theme, “Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service.” highlights the mission of Catholic schools to provide a faith-based education that supports the whole child academically and spiritually and provides our students with opportunities to grow in Jesus and to share His love through service-learning projects.

The daily themes for National Catholic Schools Week are celebrating your parish, community, students, nation, vocation and faculty, staff and volunteers.

Catholic schools in our diocese are a ministry of the whole person, which forms students intellectually, spiritually and morally.  Our teachers and curriculum foster wisdom and understanding that help produce future leaders and adults who understand the obligations of human life, the dignity of the individual and the shared responsibility for our common good.

“We are deeply grateful to everyone that contributes in any way to our Catholic schools,” said David Kessler superintendent of all diocesan Catholic schools. “We want to remember in a special way our pastors, parishioners, parents, school council members and most importantly our teachers and administrators who sacrifice so much for the children serve.”

The National Catholic Educational Association is the official sponsor of National Catholic Schools Week. During the week, nearly 6,000 Catholic schools across the country celebrated.
