On Saturday, September 17th, music directors and coordinators from parishes in the Diocese of Owensboro will gather at Mount Saint Joseph Motherhouse Chapel for a session with Rev. David Gambrell, a hymnwriter whose works are published by GIA Publications.

David GambrellDAVID GAMBRELL is Associate for Worship in the Office of Theology of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).  He was an ex-officio member of the Presbyterian Committee on Congregational Song, which developed the hymnal Glory to God.  That volume contains fourteen of his original hymn texts.  He is the author of the hymn collection Breathing Spirit into Dust (GIA Publications, 2015).

Rev. Gambrell also serves as a representative to the ecumenical Consultation on Common Texts (responsible for the Revised Common Lectionary), and is a participant in the eighth round of Roman Catholic-Reformed dialogue in the United States.

He holds an MDiv from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, and a PhD from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary where he studied with noted hymnwriter Ruth Duck.
