Accompany

Proclaiming the Name of Jesus and Encountering the Lord

Year Two, the Year of Accompany, is all about accompanying those who are returning to the Church and guiding them throughout their journey. Those who wish to do this must do it out of a love for God, a willingness to walk with others, share the Gospel and help others grow in their faith.

“Pope Francis reminds us that the accompaniment aspect of becoming a disciple offers us a chance to be truly present to others, especially to those who are struggling. ‘Often it is better simply to slow down, to put aside our eagerness in order to see and listen to others, to stop rushing from one thing to another and to remain with someone who has faltered along the way.'”

The Church will have to initiate everyone – priests, religious and laity – into this “art of accompaniment” which teaches us to remove our sandals before the sacred ground of the other (cf. Ex 3:5).
