Black Catholic Ministry in the Diocese of Owensboro is dedicated to serving the needs of Black Catholics throughout western Kentucky. This includes college scholarship opportunities for African Americans.

  • Gathering for Black Catholic Men in October 2023. Register now for the Fr. Chester Smith National Black Catholic Men’s Conference in Louisville KY October 12-15, 2023, presented by the Francis Bowsman Ministry. Find details and register here:
  • Register for the Certificate Program on Contemporary Black Catholic Spirituality. These online courses from Loyola Marymount University Center for Religion & Spirituality “focus on the concerns of Black Catholics and their unique history, traditions and voice in the universal Church.” Registration is open now for 2 courses in October: Black Catholics Sharing their Distinctive Gift of Blackness in the Catholic Church (AAMX 920) and Living the Gospels with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Sr. Dr. Thea Bowman (AAMX 922). Here’s the link:
  • NBCC XIII – The Vision Continues! – Check Eat the Scroll Ministry’s new blog for Black Catholics to witness “good or bad,” about their experience at the National Black Catholic Congress XIII. This blog will allow participants to process their Congress experience and write a vision for their faith community.
