Training Minors: Circle of Grace

Letter from Bishop Medley
Click to enlarge the letter from Most Reverend William F. Medley regarding the Circle of Grace curriculum the Diocese of Owensboro will be using in all Catholic schools and faith formation programs.

The diocese requires that every minor in Catholic school or in a parish faith formation program receive safety training annually, which includes the topics of sexual abuse prevention and the need to tell if abuse is occurring.  Only a minor whose parent or guardian signs and turns in an opt-out form to the parish or school is not required to receive this annual training.

The Diocese of Owensboro is utilizing Circle of Grace, a program created by the Archdiocese of Omaha. The goal of this program is for adults to assist children and youth to recognize God’s love by understanding that each of us lives and moves within a Circle of Grace. This is a holistic program that allows children and youth to identify uncomfortable situations long before any inappropriate touch may occur.
