Risen & Sent: An Easter Pilgrimage to Washington D.C.

April 12 - April 17

The Diocese of Owensboro invites you to join Chaplain Fr. Carl McCarthy for Risen and Sent: An Easter Pilgrimage to Washington, D.C., beginning Sunday, April 12, with pick-ups in Paducah and Madisonville before gathering for the 10:30 a.m. Mass at Precious Blood Church in Owensboro. After Mass, we’ll embark together on a journey of faith and fellowship.

Our first spiritual stop is the Seton Shrine in Emmitsburg, where we’ll explore the life and legacy of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, America’s first native-born saint and a pioneer in Catholic education who helped to shape America. In Washington, D.C., as we enjoy the stunning spring blossoms throughout our tour, we’ll visit the peaceful Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land, whose gardens and replicas of sacred sites bring the Holy Land to life, and the magnificent Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the largest Catholic church in North America. The pilgrimage also includes visits to the St. John Paul II Shrine, the Holocaust Museum, the 9/11 Memorial at the Pentagon, a Capitol Tour with Gallery passes arranged through Congressman Brett Guthrie’s office, and an Illuminated Night Tour of the Memorials highlighting the WWII monuments, Lincoln Memorial, Korean memorial, Vietnam memorial, etc. With daily Mass, prayer, and spiritual reflection led by Fr. Carl, this Easter pilgrimage offers inspiration and renewal. Overnight stays in Charleston, WV bookend the trip, returning home April 17.

Registration is open until March 10
