Bill Huebsch – A Pastoral Church in the Modern World

The Diocese of Owensboro is pleased to welcome Bill Huebsch for a presentation on “A Pastoral Church in the Modern World: How Vatican II Prepares us to Renew the Church Today”. This presentation is free and open to all in the Diocese of Owensboro. It will take place at the Duffy Auditorium located inside the C.E. Field Center for Professional Studies (located on the corner of 9th & Frederica in Owensboro) from 7:00pm-8:30pm. Click here for a map of Brescia Campus, the Field Center is labeled #6 in orange. 

Bill Huebsch is a husband, an author, a gardener, an advocate for immigrants and the poor—and a bit of a monk. He earned an MTS in pastoral theology at Catholic Theological Union of Chicago and has served on pastoral teams at the parish, diocesan, national, and international levels for the past 40 years. He’s the retired President and Publisher of Twenty-Third Publications. In retirement he served on the adjunct faculty of Loyola Chicago where he taught grad level courses in pastoral theology. In 1990 he established The Vatican II Project which contributes to the effort being made within the Church to embrace the teachings of Vatican II in today’s modern world. As part of that project, he published The Story and Promise of Vatican II—in Plain English which provides the background and theology of the Council. Bill has published some twenty-five other books on pastoral theology and spirituality. His current book, Speaking of God was published in 2026 by 23rd Publications worldwide. Two other recent books, Daily Christian Prayer: Hearing the Echo Within and Speaking of Scripture: Homilies that Touch the Heart are available via his website at SpeakingOfGod.org. He writes in an ecumenical spirit and leaves his readers profoundly inspired. He brings humor and hope to his presentations and provides people with practical tools for ministry! He lives with his family in St. Paul, Minnesota and they belong to St Cecilia Parish.
