Join Us for the Chrism Mass
One of the great traditions of our faith is the use of sacred oils as outward signs of the grace bestowed through the sacraments. Each year, these oils are freshly prepared, during Holy Week Chrism Mass is held for the bishop to then bless the Oil of the Sick and the Oil of Catechumens and consecrates the Sacred Chrism.
At the Chrism Mass, our diocesan priests also renew their commitment to the priesthood.
Representatives from parishes across Western Kentucky gather for this special liturgy, bringing back the blessed oils for use in their communities throughout the year.
This year holds particular significance, as these oils will be used during the priestly ordination of Deacon Conrad T. Jaconette. (See more here.)
“The Oil of Catechumens reminds us that the Church’s mission is for conversion in all areas of society and culture,” said Bishop Medley. —Quote from the Western Kentucky Catholic. [Read the full article on last year’s Chrism Mass here.]
