People of Hope- Advocacy & Action on Food Insecurity
Day 3: Advocacy in Action & Community Handover
Tuesday, July 28, 2026 | 10AM – 2PM Owensboro Convention Center Plaza
From Stories to Solutions
On our final day, we shift our focus to the future. Join us as we address the challenges of food insecurity in Western Kentucky and celebrate the incredible work accomplished by our volunteers and partners over the last 72 hours.
Day 3 Schedule of Events
10AM – 2PM | Final Museum Tours
This is your last chance to experience the CCUSA People of Hope Museum. Step inside the 53-foot trailer to witness the films, engage with the poverty simulator, and add your own story to the national archive before the tour moves to its next destination.
11AM | Press Conference: The State of Food Insecurity
Join our Church leaders, local elected officials, and community leaders for a public address on the plaza.
- The Focus: Highlighting the current landscape of hunger in our 16-county diocese and the systemic work being done to provide a path out of poverty.
- The Call to Action: Discover how advocacy and policy change can “anchor” hope for families across Kentucky.
12:30 PM | The Big Handover: 2,000 Boxes of Hope
The moment we’ve been working toward!
- The Ceremony: Watch as the final “Meal at Home” boxes are sealed and officially donated to the Audubon Area Head Start program.
- The Impact: These 2,000 boxes will be distributed directly to Headstart families across Western Kentucky, providing nutritious meals and the encouragement of a community that cares.
Ways to Participate Today
- Witness the Impact: Attend the press conference to learn how you can use your voice to advocate for the vulnerable.
- Load the Hope: We need “muscle” today! Volunteers are welcome to help load the final boxes into the distribution trucks following the press conference.
- Final Donations: It’s not too late to help us hit our goal. On-site donation stations will be open to help cover the final costs of the food distribution.
