Youth 2000 at new location this March

Youth 2000 2016The Diocese of Owensboro’s Youth 2000 event takes place at a new location this year. Brescia University is currently in the midst of campus renovations, thus placing Youth 2000 at the Owensboro Convention Center for 2016.

What is the purpose behind Youth 2000? Pope Francis is quoted from World Youth Day 2013: “We need saints with jeans and tennis shoes. We need saints that drink Coca-Cola, that eat hot dogs, that surf the internet and that listen to their iPods. We need saints that love the Eucharist.”

Youth 2000 responds to this challenge through Eucharistic-centered retreats. Youth 2000 helps young people strengthen their love for the Holy Eucharist and to bear witness to the role Jesus has in their lives. Young people are given the opportunity during the retreat to grow in their understanding of the Catholic Faith and to deepen their commitment to the service of the Church and others.

This retreat takes place March 11-13 and is open to young people, ages 13-30. During the retreat, young people will spend time in prayer, adoration, singing, listening to lively talks and sharing with other youth. Friday night’s retreat session is from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The fee for the retreat is $60, which includes lunch and dinner on Saturday. Financial assistance is available to those in need. All are welcome!

This event is sponsored by the Diocesan Marian Shrine Committee and the Diocese of Owensboro’s Office of Youth Ministry.
