July 26th, 27th and 28th
Immerse yourself in stories of service from around the Catholic Charities nationwide network, tell your own story of someone who gives you hope, and get the facts about how poverty affects your neighbors and your community. Then learn about volunteer opportunities in your area so you, too, can become a person of hope and make a difference in your own life and someone else’s.
We are proud to bring this unique, national experience here, it will be located in front of the Owensboro Convention Center. To get into the museum is free of charge. Below you will find each day will have a theme associated with it. 
Have the opportunity to tour the museum and get inspired. Museum is available to the public these times below:
- July 26 from 2PM-6PM Volunteer Outreach & Kickoff
We will celebrate the opening of the event with Bishop William F. Medley. Be one of the first to tour the National Exhibit and see one of our very own Kentucky stories featured! During this time, we are also launching a large-scale response to local food insecurity. In partnership with Audubon Area Community Services, volunteers will actively assemble
2,000 “Boxes of Hope” (meal-at-home food boxes).Gala for our local Catholic Charities the Sunday evening of July 26th. At this event will are going to lift up the volunteers in our community. 
- July 27 from 10AM-6PM Health Fair & Community Resource Day – Partnering with over 15 organizations, including a large presence from the team at Owensboro Health, this will be an exciting day filled with practical resources and family activities. Join us for health and wellness check-ups, free summer lunches for kids, balloons, and community connection.
- July 28 from 10AM-2PM Advocacy & Action on Food Insecurity – We are hosting a deep dive and community conversation surrounding food insecurity in our area. Come celebrate the collaborative work between regional nonprofits as we hand off the “Boxes of Hope” to Audubon Area’s Head Start. We will be joined by representatives from Feeding America, the Tri-State Food Bank, and the Green River Area Food Warehouse. Free lunches for kids will also be offered.
The Providing Help, Creating Hope Award was established to recognize those within the Diocese of Owensboro who go above and beyond typical parish involvement to serve others. If you know someone whose work and deeds reflect the true virtue of charity, we are here to tell their stories. The 9 nominees, along with the winner will be annouced at the People of Hope Gala on Sunday evening.
