Young Adult Ministry in the Diocese of Owensboro seeks to accompany the spiritual journeys of the 18-39 demographic in western Kentucky. Currently, we host monthly gatherings for young adults, alternating between a holy hour at St. Stephen Cathedral, and Theology on Tap at a local restaurant.
Young Adult Holy Hour
Young adult holy hours at St. Stephen Cathedral provide a peaceful environment for young adults to take a break from the craziness of life, and sit before Jesus in the monstrance. The holy hour includes a short Scripture reading and reflection from the presiding priest, the opportunity to go to confession, and alternating periods of silence and prayerful music. Young adults are welcome to come for the whole hour, or just stop in for a few minutes. The organizers also provide pamphlets for those who are unfamiliar with the holy hour experience.
Theology on Tap
Theology on Tap gatherings and young adult initiatives are held at a number of individual parishes around western Kentucky throughout the year. Contact your parish to learn if there is one near you.
The Theology on Tap program began in the Archdiocese of Chicago as a way to reach Catholic young adults in 1981. In 2003 RENEW International was given the task to make Theology on Tap available across the country. Since then, Theology on Tap has provided numerous dioceses and parishes with an opportunity to serve their young adults.
